A surprising thing many, even most Christians, misunderstood is God’s favor. God’s favor is not a lost and found thing where anybody can come across anytime as a chance. It’s a thing that people work and earn. And the smart people take the first step by doing two things which I’d like to show you.
They first find out where God is at work in and around them. Then they step in, get to where He is at work and started working with Him there. The fact is: God’s favor is present where He is and His interest is. The events, happenings and the issues that gets God’s attention is the very place where smart people get involved in order to get His favor. Smart people know that the Lord God work according to His Word. So they obey His word and work with Him there to fulfill His Word.
There are two different types of events that we found out that the Lord God is at work. So we the mission builders take lead in organizing with the tribesmen – Maken, every year. One falls on the second week of January and the other falls on the June 24th.
Every January we organize Back to School Program, have mini crusade. The purpose is to fulfill what the Lord said in Deuteronomy 4:9. Elders and the parents gathered their children and the grandchildren and teach them of what the Lord did to save them and bless them. This is to remind and teach the students to serve God that they serve.
And during June 24th, we commemorate the arrival day of the pioneer Baptist missionaries to PNG. We have decided and promised to celebrate this day (Every year) as an important day in life. Not just because civilization begun by then. Not just because it was the beginning of the new era for our ancestors and the people in that part of the world (Baiyer Lumusa, Kompiam and Min and Telefomin).
But also, because that was the very day when God reached out to our ancestors through the missionaries and started building lives with them and through them to liberate the thousands who were being in the bondage. We know that If God didn’t reach out to us by then, we (The generations from those places missionaries had reached) wouldn’t be where we are. It’s all because of them and what God did, we are who we are and where we are. And it’s because of that day – June 24th 1949.
When Moses realized the importance of the day like this, he said, “Remember this day in which you went out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out of this place” (Exodus 13:3).
You may read how we organized the first event – association launching crusade here: God’s hand at work. The Association executives invited many especially those Baptist Elites (Sons and daughters and the grandchildren of Baptist Pastors and other Baptist Elites) to come and witness the event and celebrate the day together but many didn’t make an attempt to attend except the Tribesmen (Maken) Elites.
